Copy Services

The system provides Copy Services functions that enable you to copy data from one system to another.

FlashCopy
In its basic mode, the function creates copies of content on a source volume to a target volume. Any data that existed on the target volume is lost and is replaced by the copied data.
FlashCopy consistency groups
A consistency group is a container for mappings. You can add many mappings to a consistency group.
FlashCopy mapping
A mapping defines the relationship between a source volume and a target volume.
Remote copy
Metro Mirror and Global Mirror are two types of remote-copy operations. You can use these functions to set up a relationship between two volumes, where updates made to one volume are mirrored on the other volume. For Metro Mirror and Global Mirror operations, the volumes can be on two different systems (intersystem). Metro Mirror can also support volumes that reside on the same system (intrasystem). To use Metro Mirror and Global Mirror functions, the remote-copy license must be installed on each enclosure that you plan to use these functions.
Partnerships
Partnerships can be used to create a disaster recovery environment or to migrate data between systems that are in different locations. Partnerships define an association between a local system and a partner system.
Background copy bandwidth
The background copy bandwidth determines the rate at which the background copy for Active-active (HyperSwap®), Metro Mirror or Global Mirror Copy Services are attempted.
