Settings
Use the Settings panel to configure system options for notifications, security, IP addresses, and preferences that are related to display options in the management GUI.
- Notifications
The system can use Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) traps, syslog messages, and Call Home emails to notify you and the support center when significant events are detected. Any combination of these notification methods can be used simultaneously. Notifications are normally sent immediately after an event is raised. However, there are some events that might occur because of active service actions. If a recommended service action is active, these events are notified only if they are still unfixed when the service action completes. - Security
Use the Security panel to configure and manage remote authentication services - Network
Use the Network panel to manage the management IP addresses for the system, service IP addresses for the nodes, and iSCSI and Fibre Channel configurations. The system must support Fibre Channel or Fibre Channel over Ethernet connections to your storage area network (SAN). - Support
You can download support packages that contain log files and information that can be sent to support personnel to help troubleshoot the system. You can either download individual log files or download statesaves, which are dumps or livedumps of system data. - Date and Time
Use the Date and Time panel to change time and date settings on the system. You can either have Network Time Protocol (NTP) server automatically synchronize time settings across the system or manually set the time and date on the system. You can also select to have time and date settings to synchronize with the current browser settings. - Licensed functions
The base license that is provided with your system includes the use of its basic functions. However, the following extra licenses can be purchased to expand the capabilities of your system. Administrators are responsible for purchasing extra licenses and configuring the systems within the license agreement, which includes configuring the settings of each licensed function on the system. - Update system
Use the Update System panel to install new versions of the code. - Virtual volumes
The system supports VMware vSphere Virtual Volumes, sometimes referred to as VVols, which allow VMware vCenter to automate the management of system objects like volumes and pools. - IP quorum applications
In some HyperSwap® configurations, IP quorum applications can be used at the third site as an alternative to third-site quorum disks. - I/O groups
For ports within an I/O group, you can enable virtualization of Fibre Channel ports that are used for host I/O operations. With N_Port ID virtualization (NPIV), the Fibre Channel port consists of both a physical port and a virtual port. When port virtualization is enabled, ports do not come up until they are ready to handle I/O, which improves host behavior around node unpends. In addition, path failures due to an offline node are masked from hosts. - Domain Name System (DNS)
Domain Name System (DNS) translates IP address to host names. - GUI preferences
Use the GUI preference panel to change settings that are related to how information is displayed on the GUI.
